Mission Opportunities
Children's Carnival - Saturday, June 21
As part of our training for our mission trip to Miami, we will spend a day in two local neighborhoods playing with children, cooking and serving food, and just sharing the love of Christ in a very practical way. We'll meet in the youth room at 10:00 am to load up the church vans with toys, games, and food. After visiting two neighborhoods, we'll return to the church around 2:00.
Summer Mission Trip 2008
Touching Miami with Love, Miami, Florida
July 19-27, 2008Zebulon Baptist Church Youth Group will have the opportunity to minister in Miami, Florida for one week during the summer of 2008. Our church will be one of many churches ministering through Touching Miami with Love, an inner city ministry in Miami. TML's prmary focus is in the southwest quadrant of Overtown and Downtown Miami.
Our Group will have a full-range of experiences in inner-city ministry. We will be involved in three ministries:
Our Ministry to the Homeless will involves us in a Sunday morning time of service and worship at the Downtown Mission. Later in the week our group will have a chance to again engage the homeless population by offering them a movie night.
Our Ministry to Children will take the form of offering a summer camp experience for the children of Overtown. Then, on Friday we will all join together to offer these children a field trip to one of the local attractions in the Greater Miami area. In addition, the group will participate in a work project aimed at bettering a small slice of the community in which we work; this afternoon may be considered Our Ministry to the Overtown Community, an act aimed not at individuals but at helping transform the community as a whole.
Students that attend this mission trip must go through a two phase process. This process will involve participation in the programs of Zebulon Baptist Church as well as preparation for the trip. Students must show investment by attending church worship service, Sunday School, Journeys, and youth events. They mst also prepare for this trip by investing their time in missions here in Zebulon. Students who cannot meet the required participation but would still like to attend may speak with Tim about their situation.
