Matthew S. Dinkins, Associate Pastor for Congregational Care
Matt began serving Zebulon Baptist as Associate Pastor in the fall of 2011. He has great enthusiasm for this position and feels he is at the center of God’s calling in his life. He grew up in the city of Monroe, NC. A passionate Tar Heel fan all his life, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the only college he had ever desired to attend, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon accepting God’s calling into vocational ministry, he attended Campbell University Divinity School and received a Master of Divinity. He was ordained to the gospel ministry by the wonderful congregation of University Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC in November 2009. Prior to joining Zebulon Baptist, he served in various capacities at two other Baptist churches and also completed a Clinical Pastoral Education residency at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC. A lifelong Baptist, Matt has a deep appreciation for the Baptist tradition, from its historic ideals to its penchant for covered dish meals. Matt is joined in this appreciation by his wife, Lisa. Together, Matt and Lisa are the proud parents of one son, Adam, and a Chihuahua named Wrigley.
Matt serves the church in several areas. He assists the senior pastor with congregational care, leads the Juniors and outreach ministries, and assists in the preschool, college, and recreation ministries. Matt finds great fulfillment in walking alongside people as they face life’s joys and difficulties as well as edifying the body of Christ through teaching and fellowship. One of his greatest passions is to make Christianity compatible in this day and age through relevant, creative means.
He enjoys reading, writing, and exercising to stimulate the body and mind. He also enjoys hobbies lighter on the mind, including watching movies and playing video games. To do any of these things or other activities with his family and others brings him great joy.
